CCXX: Wine & Dine

Therapy Vineyards

Five wineries and six purchased bottles of wine later, I can only admit to the Socratic phrase "As for me, all I know is that I know nothing".

Staff could tell me all they wanted about differences in oak (American or French), fruitiness, or notes, but all I did was nod and sip. The only thing I could determine was whether or not I liked a certain wine. If I liked it enough, I bought it. Today, these were:
  1. Hillside Estate 2009 Muscat Ottonel
  2. Therapy Vineyards 2007 Freud's Ego
  3. Elephant Island 2008 Pink Elephant
  4. Elephant Island 2009 Apricot Dessert Wine
  5. Elephant Island 2009 Cassis
  6. La Frenz 2009 Sauvignon Blanc
All of us loved Elephant Island Orchard Wines the most because they were unique and contained fruits--definitely sweetening the deal and taste. In total, the four of us--who rarely drink wine--bought 19 bottles. I'm glad we've finished our wine tour because my car and wallet cannot handle any more.

For an incredible lunch in Penticton/Naramata, visit Hillside Estate Bistro. They have so many tempting menu items that we are making a point of going at least 1-2 more times. I had the Local Tomato Bruschetta on Artisan Bread, Nicky and RaeRae had the Confit Duck Leg "Grilled Cheese" Sandwich, and Pleuve had the Grilled 6oz Beef Flat Iron Steak (pictured below). You know life is good when your biggest dilemma is what you'll order next time!
