CCXIII: Bookworms

I've been trying to keep up with my reading this summer. After the excitement of the Millennium Trilogy, I couldn't get my hands on any of the books I wanted at the library, so I resorted to rereading one of my favourite books. I'm so happy I did.

On Thursday, I spent 30 minutes after voice class roaming the fiction aisles of my library, scanning for any recognizable titles or authors that would intrigue me. I started from the bottom of the alphabet and eventually made my way to Stephen Clarke's A Year in the Merde. Such a change in mood and subject from The Solitaire Mystery. I picked it up with reluctance but felt my mind was due for some comic relief. So far so good!

I've been pushing books on my parents for years. Sometimes my dad will bite, i.e. The Da Vinci Code and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (unfortunately he is not a die-hard HP fan like me). My mom, however, used to have a very busy career, and now that she's been retired for two years she has finally listened to me and picked up Eat, Pray, Love. And she is loving it. Meanwhile, my dad is starting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

The Count of Monte Cristo has finally come to my temporary possession from the libary, so I will finally get to read it after all these years of curiousity. But Merde first. It happens.

  1. Oh, I love your pun, Giosy! So discreet but the impact is still strong =) I really should finish a book, instead of starting many :S

  2. I have a Year in the Merde! Some woman gave me a glare for reading it--I think she was a Frenchie.
