CXXXVIII: Temper Trapped

Tonight I went to see The Temper Trap live at the Commodore Ballroom. I got my ticket spontaneously on Mother's Day en route to dinner, more out of geographic convenience than anything else really--the record store was on the same block as the restaurant. The ticket was under $25. Sold.

Okay, it was also because I really love their song "Sweet Disposition". I wouldn't go to a concert without liking/knowing any of the band's songs.

The best shot I could get of the whole band. The drummer and other guitarist are hidden.

Doors opened at 8pm, Elizabeth (two of four members pictured right) played at 9:30pm, and The Temper Trap finally started around 10:50pm. I was standing in the front row with my concert buddies (feeling totally unworthy the whole time since I only know one of their songs and don't even have the lyrics memorized, mostly because I always have difficulty interpreting lyrics. This is a story for another day). My feet were in pain and my legs were tired, but I'm very glad I went because I ended up liking most (if not all) of their songs. The singer normally sings in his falsetto and has a high range. His moves also remind me of Motown. Whereas the bassist is very distracting to watch because he moves around without inhibition. It's pretty awesome.

The Temper Trap's set went by pretty quickly. When they played their last song I found myself thinking "What? Already?" They played two songs for the encore and then it was midnight and I rushed back home. What a late (week)night!
