CXLIII: Greyday

Not "Sunday", mood- and weather-wise.

Chiara had not been eating or drinking much for a few days and I felt like that was bad enough, but then today as I looked at her eyes in the sunlight I realized that her pupils were different sizes. I know that this is bad news for humans so it must be equally bad news for cats. Google confirmed this. Then I fed her some of her medication and decided to research her meds as well. This immediately increased my fear because her pain medication has killed or harmed a lot of cats. I threw the rest of it away and regretted not researching this before giving it to her.

Long story short, I seesawed between taking her to the emergency animal hospital or waiting until tomorrow. In the end I determined that I would wait since she was functioning normally otherwise. But a family friend who owns a few cats told me it would be best to stay home with Chiara for the rest of the day and that my presence had been most needed this week--and I had barely been home. I was guilt-ridden.

I chose to cancel my dinner plans and stay home. As a result (though not scientifically proven), her appetite was much better and I felt so relieved. I'll still take her to the vet tomorrow and try to work from home. I just want to make sure she's okay!

Thank you to RaeRae and Numz for taking care of me this evening. I was originally going to go with them to Commercial Drive for Italian Day festivities followed by dinner. Instead they brought Italian Day to me (panini, pastries, and all!) and calmed me down. What would I have done without you? And thanks to Nicky and Bunz for your concern:) I'm so lucky to have you all in my life. If only I could clone you into cat versions so that Chiara could say the same thing!

And if that last point wasn't random enough, might I add that at some point in our conversation this evening I asked the age-old question pondered by many a philosopher: do they make bras that shape boobs into pecs? It's something to think about...
