CXLIV: The Cat-Fog has Lifted

PHEW. Chiara is okay. And now so am I. Occasions like yesterday's kind of make me want to study veterinary medicine on my own for the sole reason that I could avoid such diagnostic worries in the future. I could be the House of animals.

Of course, I don't want to be premature in my celebration. It's too early to say she's back to normal (or better than normal since she shouldn't have tooth-pain anymore when she recovers), but at least I have the peace of mind that things seem to be improving. The vet told me that her lack of appetite was due to the fact that senior cats take longer to recover from anesthesia, that her pupil-unevenness wasn't serious since the "weak" pupil was still responsive to light, and that she'll get enough water in her wet food. *Triple sigh of relief.*

As you have probably conjectured, I worked from home today and am glad I could keep Chiara company. I hope my absence tomorrow doesn't set her backwards. That would mill.

I have a fridge full of desserts and wish I could share some with my dad. But he's off in Italy having meal upon meal of splendour, so I guess I will have to finish off the bumbleberry pie, cheescake, gingerbread chocolate chip cookies, cannoncino, éclair, pecan slice--along with my non-refrigerated goodies: four bags of store-bought chocolate chip cookies, most of which are of a chewy variety--on his behalf. Slowly, but surely. And fatly.
