Guess what was for sale at Costco today?
Sorry, Plato, back on the shelf for you for (at least) the next few days. I really need some other book recommendations for after I'm done with this final book of the Millennium Trilogy. And normally I love hardcover books, but this one is so massive and heavy that I can't justify bringing it on weekend bus rides en route to hanging out with friends.
There are a few books I've been meaning to read for awhile--mostly classics, such as Jane Eyre, The Catcher and the Rye, Wuthering Heights, The Count of Monte Cristo, etc. I had to consult this list just now to help me remember. Last year I had a similar goal and ended up reading Catch-22, Frankenstein, 1984, and Animal Farm among others. For the most part, they were depressing novels (I'm pointing at you, Frankenstein. You were the hardest to finish and the dreariest of them all.)
And don't get me started on all the movies and TV shows I have yet to see. My coworkers are well-watched in the HBO curriculum, a pocket of my closest friends are swearing by How I Met Your Mother, and you name the groundbreaking movie, I haven't seen it.
Stiegy, at least we have each other this weekend.

I am so excited for you for getting the 3rd book!! The 2nd book is getting good. Thanks for lending it to me! I liked both Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights - I would read both of them again. My favorite classic novel is still Pride and Prejudice though. OHH have you read Gone with the Wind? I was hooked and read it all day and night for a week one summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it too! Thanks for the recommendations, yeah, Pride and Prejudice is up there in my top 5 books as well. I haven't read Gone with the Wind yet and will add it to this list:) THANKS!
