Not Timbits but balls of pre-baked gingerbread and chocolatey goodness
I haven't baked anything in quite awhile. And when I do bake, I tend to do it weekly/repeatedly for a good month or so. Past instances include the bran muffin phase of '98, the cornbread weeks of '01, and the sex-in-a-pan craze (let's call it baking-nymphomania) of '04.
So let's just say that this perhaps signals the start of Cookiefest '10. It was pretty successful despite the fact that I didn't read through the recipe before we began, meaning I missed the instruction "refrigerate until firm, 2 hours or overnight". Problematic since my friend Bunny, the Martha Stewart in my life, was only going to be over for about 2.5 hours. Oops!
Luckily she came over. Not only did she bring most of the ingredients (she is a baking guru), she also had a good solution to our chilling predicament. Freeze! And of course I enjoyed her company.
We made Martha Stewart's chewy chocolate gingerbread cookies from her cookbook. They're on the front cover. Ours didn't end up looking the same (I think I added too much butter...this wouldn't have happened if some of the measurements were metric!) but they're very yummy!
A bit conjoined and thin for my liking, but still a success!
ooo i want to try the cookies

ReplyDeletei think refrigeration will make your cookies stand a little taller next time. I can't wait to try them (i hope)!
