I don't normally set daily goals for myself but today I had to because it was thrust upon me by the Burnaby Public Library. Malcolm Gladwell's What the Dog Saw was due back and I couldn't renew it since it was on hold for someone else. So I had to somehow find the time to read the last 100 pages. It went a little something like this:
- Bus ride to work - 35 minutes of effective reading
- Skytrain ride from conference at YVR back to work - 25 minutes of effective reading
- Bus ride to voice class - 10 minutes of rereading, 20 minutes of dozing off and/or sleeping
- Pre-voice class - 5 minutes of rereading (my teacher's previous lesson was highly distracting), walked to a further corner, 15 minutes of trying to absorb information about ??? (obviously failed)
- Post-voice class - 20 minutes of effective reading, seated in front of the library
- 7:15pm FINISHED and returned book!
- Ran to catch the 7:18pm shuttle and made it:)
Is it sad that I get so excited over the little things in life working out?
I think it would be sad if I didn't, because it's the little things that make up most of our short time on this Earth. They're the temporal atoms of each day.
wow. congrats on achieving your goal and catching the shuttle!
