Tonight marks the first time I ever cooked all the elements of a dinner for a few friends. I made pasta alla carbonara, chicken marsala, and salad. The scope of the menu was by no means comparable to that of my parents, who are known to make a few too many courses and have enough leftovers to last our family for almost all meals of a week; however, they are fantastic chefs with much more complicated recipes. I only know how to make a few dishes, most of them pasta-related, and am not experienced enough with the cooking times of meat. Fruits and vegetables are scarce not so much because I dislike them (though the younger me would disagree) but because it either takes me too long to peel or I don't know how to cook them in enough ways.
We shared a bottle of my dad's Granbarolo, had a nice chat, and then watched Coco avant Chanel. A bit depressing and not enough focus on fashion, but a good escape from Hollywood cinema nonetheless. We later had bumbleberry pie and chai.
I can't believe Sunday is over already. I was on Facebook and every second person's status update was about Lost. I kept thinking "that's strange, I thought the series finale was on Sunday". It wasn't until I thought a bit longer that I realized that today was Sunday. Or yesterday now. (Word of advice, it is always "now" even though the moment is fleeting.)
But if fun weekends must go by quickly, I will gladly take them over any other sort.
