CXXX: Scenes from the Seawall

Today was the first time I have ever walked the entire seawall, from English Bay to Coal Harbour. My friend Olim and I took advantage of the predicted only sunny day of the week and experienced the fickleness of Vancouver weather: when I first left my house it was a bit cold and lightly raining; by the time I reached my bus stop it was sunny and warm, prompting me to question my decision of wearing a long, warm coat and not bringing my sunglasses; then around the seawall it often switched from sunny to cloudy, so much so that I remarked that it was as if someone upstairs was playing with the dimmer switch in the room.

We witnessed a lot of amusing things on our four-hour walk. These included:

  • Several cute dogs
  • Mysterious/questionable sea foam (ask me if you want my hypothesis)
  • A male rollerblader with his pug's front legs around his shoulders (!)
  • A father pushing his young daughter on her bike by her helmet
We also experienced an immense appreciation of Vancouver as well as hip pain because of our unsupportive footwear.

I will leave you with one of my blondest remarks in awhile:
Olim: You know, in Calgary people put figures of owls on their balconies to scare pigeons.
Me: Really? I guess we don't have that problem here. What would we scare crows with?
Olim: A scarecrow?!
