I don't usually have my camera Neru on me, being that he's a bit large, heavy, and was rather expensive at the time of purchase. His presence is premeditated, as was the case today when I met up with my friend Ralph to take some photos of the city.
Since I was early I walked around by myself first and tried to look at things I'd normally overlook.
I call this one Uncertainty.
We had dinner at The Pourhouse, a restaurant I had seen a few positive reviews for in Metro News. It has a cozy and warm ambiance with redbrick walls and a 1920s feel (as I imagine it to be, not having been alive then!).
The service was wonderful, the menu had just enough selection, and I felt compelled to have a beer since it seems that the experience would be wasted without one. I immediately noticed the Pyramid Apricot Hefeweizen.
The first beer I ever ordered on my own accord (i.e. not part of a set menu in a restaurant). It wasn't too bad!
I don't like beer so I don't know anything about them and had no clue what "Hefeweizen" was. It was the "Apricot" that sold me as I've been meaning to try some fruit beer. After consulting with our waiter and then Ralph (who knows his beers), I decided to go for it. I learned that Hefeweizen means "wheat beer" and has a cloudy look to it.
Foodwise, I had their Crispy Cheese Sandwich -- basically an amped-up version of a grilled cheese sandwich. It came with a small bowl of flavourful tomato soup, optimal for dipping!
The Pourhouse's drink menu, accompanied by salt shaker and candle.
I'm glad I finally got to try this place out. Next time I want to share a few dishes with friends! Like their Humboldt Squid.
After dinner we walked from Gastown to Coal Harbour to get some shots of the sunset. I really liked what they've done with the area around the Olympic Cauldron--there's now a big open space reminiscent of an Italian piazza.
Sunset in Coal Harbour. The angular streak across the sky reminds me of the logo for Summit Entertainment.

Wow I love the last picture! So beautiful
