CLXXII: Hold Your Secrets to Your Heart

A couple of years ago, I had my breath taken away by the opening band of a concert I went to. That band was Miracle Fortress, and "Hold Your Secrets to Your Heart" was one of the songs on their set. It is currently the ringtone on my cellphone.

It's not one of favourite of their/his songs, but the title is like a bit of clay for me to work with and mould today. More so than "Maybe Lately" at least.

I'm not a good liar or actress, so my face probably gives me away the instant my words try to deceive or hide, but I do try my best to keep people's secrets. And sometimes, *gasp*, I even keep my own. I'm trying to think if there are any that I have kept from everyone and I really can't think of any. I have not been able to be a mysterious person at all, which means that I am less likely to be perceived as sexy. But I guess that having a blog has already relinquished me of that possibility as well.

I do think though that there are some secrets we have about ourselves that even we don't know -- either because they are tucked away in our subconscious (don't worry, I won't go all Freudian on you...mostly since I can't remember his terms anymore!) or because, like yours truly, we have simply forgotten. The human brain is a powerful thing and sometimes it's better to let our mind play tricks on us--because who wants to remember the time they were a really rotten person? Other than He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?
