Two days ago, I put a piece of cheese on a mousetrap outside your door and said you could eat it the next day. Then I left you high and dry because I had an energy low from the sweat-lodge of hot yoga. Your wait is over, my friends, you can finally feed on this, courtesy of Mr. Malcolm Gladwell...
...except, as I was about to type this out, I realized that it was already all summarized on Wikipedia. How convenient. So if you'd like to know about the three rules of epidemics, you know where to go.
I'm sorry I didn't do it, but you can see why I had to use a shortcut, don't you? I could have spent an hour writing it up instead of an hour sleeping, and after having 7-8 hours of sleep per night for the past two nights rather than my usual yoga-induced 5-6, it's easy to understand why I chose to keep it up. Dessert cravings, however, have remained a prominent part of my day. And I indulge.
Having cheated on my subject today, I will instead write about my overwhelming desire to go to New York City. It's been on my mind since I saw my first production of The Met's Live in HD Series, Tosca, in October. I want to see an opera at the Met, watch Wicked on Broadway, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, et al. Sex and the City and Project Runway also helped in falling in love with the city, plus all the promising gastronomical opportunities. I feel like I will only get the chance to go away this year if I do it soon. Mid-May to the end of July are off-limits, August is still high season, then I have a conference to plan at work which takes place in the beginning of October. After that there will be wrap-up work and then it'll be wintertime...and as amazing as spending Christmas in New York sounds, it will be freezing. And the Canadian dollar may not be as strong.
I know which flight I would take ($562), which hostel I would stay at ($29/night), and which opera I would see (Armida, starring my voice-idol Renée Fleming). Now all I need is to phone the passport office because, conveniently, I just recently submitted an application for a new passport and I don't know if I'll get it in time to take off...
I never denied that my biggest decisions were always my hastiest ones. Let's see what news I have tomorrow! (Two cliffhangers in one week?! This is craziness!!!)
are you really going?? with who? oh thats so exciting
