CII: Bon voyage, finalement!

After almost a week of waiting around, Nicky and RaeRae finally got to fly to Europe today. Unfortunately they missed Prague but at least they'll still get to experience Berlin and Paris with Pleuve!

Today was one of those lacklustre days, possibly (likely!) because I only got 3.5 hours of sleep. This is what happens when you try to have a semblance of a social life (that doesn't even include drinking or going dancing)...in fact, you read what I did last night. But it's all of the stuff that I have to do when I get home that sucks up my time. And it's also waking up at 5:00am for yoga...

By the way, I always knew vet fees were expensive but I never imagined this much. I took Chiara for her first checkup since I adopted her and the total charges were $305.81. This included:
  • Senior wellness exam
  • Blood sample collection
  • Urine sample collection
  • Geriatric panel with urinalysis
  • Blood pressure examination
  • Golden years program discount (oo yay, I get $29.00 taken off my bill, big deal)
  • FVRCP annual booster
And that's not all. She has moderate/severe gingivitis and tartar buildup which means that I have to take her back to get her teeth cleaned next week. The vet said that the cost will depend on how many extractions she has to do. It's like I'm paying for a second flight to New York.

Don't get me wrong, I love her and want her to be healthy and happy. I realize the costs associated with owning a pet. I just wish she could be a dependant on my extended health care plan...oh that would make things so much easier!
