CI: Sour Glee

Bunny invited me over for a wonderful home-cooked dinner at her boyfriend's new apartment with a gorgeous view of Coal Harbour. I haven't had a girls' night in with anyone in what seems like forever (sorry if I recently had one with you, my memory is flawed!). I thoroughly enjoyed our chance to just sit, chat, drink London Fogs, and watch TV.

After dinner, the three of us (yes, boy included) watched Glee and I have to explain my stance on this series. I was excited with the rest of them before the show premiered last fall. I love musicals, I love TV, I love singing. It seemed like the perfect combination. But what I can't stand are weak, predictable plots, clearly pre-recorded-in-studio musical numbers (can't they at least try to make them sound a bit more spontaneous when recording?), and "actors" that seem undeserving to be among Broadway or highly-trained/talented stars. As a result, I have only watched a total of 1.5 episodes from last year and the past two episodes. I'm trying to give it a second chance since the gleek hype is inescapable.

I'm all for people catching a break in Hollywood. It makes for a nice story. I'm also glad that showtunes are now considered cool. I just really hope this show proves me wrong and ends up having a bit more substance.

Oh, and more Jesse, please! (I never would have knew that he was gay in real life. He is now my Broadway-crush.)

  1. Well, you know this already, but I am a full on Gleek! Umm, can I just say how awesome the Vogue number was?! Spot on replica of Madonna's vid!
