XCI: Sleep + Food > Yoga

...at least for this weekend.

My aim for today was to give my dad a great birthday. Lots of eating ensued.

I took my parents out for panini at La Grotta del Formaggio. It was my second time there and I can firmly attest to the yummy masterpieces that are their panini.  (NB. Panino = singular, panini = plural. One of my pet peeves is hearing "paninis".) We each got one on white half-foccaccia with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and basil pesto mayo as a base. I chose to have roast beef, provolone, tomatoes, red onions, red peppers, and artichokes in mine. If you know me well, you know I don't normally eat/order veggies, so this was a pretty big deal! For a standard half-foccaccia it is $6.50, but when you add specialty meats like prosciutto, porchetta, or roast beef, you add an extra $1.00. And you can have two different meats and it's still just a $1 extra. We all loved our panini and were super full -- I couldn't even finish mine!

Then we picked up a St. Honoré birthday cake at Fratelli Bakery and went to Continental Coffee for cappuccini/a chai latte upon the recommendation of Pleuve's fashion school friend.

Our family friends treated us to dinner at The Olive Garden in Langley. We arrived at 6:00pm and were told that the wait would be 1.5 hours, as they don't take reservations on weekends. Luckily it was only a one hour wait (only!) and we all enjoyed our food there. I am never disappointed with The Olive Garden. They always have good food, service, and huge portions. I look forward to not worrying about what to bring for lunch on Monday.

I was planning on going to 8:30am hot yoga tomorrow/today but my body is telling me to get some sleep instead. I cannot justify waking up at 7:00am on the weekend. And I know that if I go after lunch the travel and class time will eat up my day.

I think it's safe to say that there has been enough eating this weekend.

  1. Oh Meuve! Sounds like you had an amazing weekend of eating! I was just telling Joumana that I would happily take a job eating my way through life and get paid for it. I would sample something different every week! Wouldn't that be great?? Fashion designer food taster?!?
