I have to admit, I've had blogger's block lately...or should I say blogck. I was truly stumped about what to write about today, as I have been for the past few days really, when I thought "Hmm, I bought some pastries for my family today, and I have my camera at home, so I can post a photo and talk about food! Yay!"
Clockwise from left: Sicilian cannoli (3), pecan slice, and mocha madness bar
I went to Fratelli Bakery today with a few coworkers to pick up a St. Honoré cake for my dear friend Oli's birthday, and since we were there and Sicilian cannoli were present as well (last time they were all sold out), I decided to indulge my parents and me tonight.
Yes, everything tasted as good as it looked, though the Sicilian cannolo wasn't as good as the one I had with my travelling sisters in Siracusa. And their St. Honoré cake is one of my favourite non-Oreo blizzard with extra Oreo DQ cakes. (That might be a hint to what my favourite cake is.)
After dinner tonight, I did not fathom that we would finish the panoply of sweet goodness you see above. But we did. And I enjoyed it with a cold glass of organic 2% milk. If I were a goddess, that would probably be my nectar. Take that, wine! You're overrated.
I wasn't that impressed with Sicilian cannoli, but I really love Sicilian sausages!!! Soo good! I am a savory kind of person
ReplyDeleteMy classmate Emilie worked at Fratelli's!! Mmm I want to eat Italian pastries!
ReplyDeleteI thought of that, Pleuvy! But I forgot her name so I thought I'd save myself the awkwardness and not ask if the people who worked there knew of her.
ReplyDeleteI would choose pie/cake/cookies over Sicilian cannoli. However, the normal cannoli is even BETTER! It has a flaky pastry and the inside has custard/cream and it is lightly dusted with icing sugar. Mmmm..
But above all these, right now I am really craving a CIAMBELLA or BOMBA!!!
