Tonight, I got to go to my first hockey game ever. Apparently I am a rare breed among born and raised Vancouverites. I decided not to bring my camera as it was more (in my mind) a networking session rather than a photo op. It ended up being minimal schmoozing (phew) but that meant I was stuck with taking a couple of pictures on my relatively outdated cellphone.
The highlight of the night for me was not the game itself, as grateful as I was for the free tickets, but the sight of Timbits Hockey during the first intermission! Two teams of little kids from Merritt played each other on the ice. They were so adorable. One of the kids did a lunge and fist-pump move after scoring, just like many NHLers. Awww... and Fin the mascot was the referee! He'd tell a goalie who just let a shot through to focus. And he even sprayed the face of one of the goalies with water from his own water bottle.
I may have failed as a hockey fan tonight but I have definitely moved a notch over to the children-loving feminine side!
Rae Rae would be proud! I have not yet discovered my children-loving feminine side...no maternal instincts here!
ReplyDeleteRae Rae is VERY proud! I'm so far down the children-loving feminine side, there's no point of return. The little Timbits are sooooooo adorable!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile we're on a hockey note, I saw Kesler and Bieksa having lunch today
