Before my short voice class today, I made myself imagine that it was the actual performance, and as a result my hands and feet immediately started freezing, and as I sung my voice was shaky. But the high notes worked! And that's the hardest part for me (consciously).
Tonight I'm going to watch Nixon in China with my parents at Vancouver Opera. I'm hoping it pleasantly surprises me as I have no expectations, no concept of the plot, and it is the opera I am least looking forward to seeing there this season.
My plans for tomorrow:
- Wake up after a good night's sleep (challenging)
- Do some yoga at home
- Warm up my voice
- Get dressed, do own hair and makeup
- 12:30pm - arrive at the theatre for a group photo and quick dress rehearsal
- 3:00pm - concert starts
- approx. 4:00pm - I take the stage
- approx. 4:06pm - the temperature of my hands and feet are restored, I am relieved, and probably want to sing again
- approx. 5:30pm - concert finishes, I get to see and thank all 13 people who have taken the time out of their busy lives to come see/hear me :)
- 7:30pm - family friend's birthday dinner in Richmond
Wish me luck! Or maybe even better, wish me calm and confidence!
