...if you couldn't tell already.
Numz came over for our typical day in: she had some of my dad's lasagne and tiramisù (if that's the only dessert your parents can make, you would be sick of it too like me), and then we both had chai lattes. Then we sat in front of the TV for a few hours and watched The Met's Live in HD transmission of Puccini's Turandot, courtesy of PBS and my PVR (so many P acronyms!). It's impossible for me not to be sucked in to the story, beautiful music, gorgeous scenery, and, above all, impeccable singing.
My favourite was Marina Poplavskaya as Liù. Maybe it's because I love Liù's arias the most, but Marina played such a believably meek and fragile character and sang so purely that I couldn't help but admire her as well. I couldn't find any footage of her in this role but if you're interested, you can watch her sing "Ave Maria" in Verdi's Otello. I don't know how she can sing high notes so quietly and with such control. Okay, well I do know: training. I would really love to learn how to do this. On top of a gazillion other techniques and tricks.
Tomorrow will be my 100th entry, and I feel like it should be something spectacular. But tomorrow is also a Monday, so I don't know how realistic it would be to find a subject on such a mundane day. Where's a muse when you need one? And why are muses usually thought of as female? My cat Chiara is female...

Hey Meuvy, I have an idea for your 100th post...how about a celebration of everything that is you and everything that you love: Nicknames, puns, opera, Italian/Latin phrases, travelling memories, and jeopardy fun facts! I would love to read that entry :)
