My parents left today for their nearly-one month trip to South America and Antarctica. It was tough to say goodbye, because as often as it seems that they travel, for some reason I felt unprepared this time. Maybe it's because when they come back, I will only have three short weeks with them before I leave for seven months...Well, when people leave you for awhile, others always manage to step in and satisfy some other innate need. Tonight, Smeek and I had our first evening together in what feels like months; and what joy it brought me when she suggested we do a yoga class! She wanted to try something new so we did core, thus relieving me of my early morning tomorrow.
Then I made us dinner. The highlight of the meal being something I've been meaning to cook for awhile now: pasta with truffle cream sauce. And thank Jebus it turned out well! I guess cooking is like riding a bicycle....except I don't know how to ride a bicycle.
Above left: Fusilli 5 Gusti (5 flavours of Fusilli); Smeek asked me what the five flavours were so I started translating from Italian, only to realize that the line below was in English! All I can tell you is that one is spinach, two are semolina/normal, and one is squid ink! Right: the (almost) finished product; by "almost finished" I mean we only had the few spoonfuls you see left before I remembered to take a picture. Story of my life.
SEVEN MONTHS JOCKEY WOCKEY?!?!?!
