CCCXXIX: In the Haas

A few months ago I raved about Thomas Haas Patisserie. Today, a few coworkers and I headed to their Kitsilano location for lunch. Located near Lumière on West Broadway, I would never have known it was there if my colleague didn't point it out. But once you step in, you're transported into a place where there is only good in the world. Because how could negativity enter a room whose contents are coated with so much chocolate and/or butter?

Oli and I shared two panini:
  • Portabello mushroom and gruyère with walnuts and peppers
  • Spicy calabrese salami with brie, tomatoes, and peppers
We chose to have them grilled (who wouldn't?) and they were delicious! I'm a bit embarrassed at how quickly I scarfed down my sandwiches. I guess I was much hungrier than I thought.

I bought three of their croissants to share with my parents: double-baked almond, almond & pistachio, and pain au chocolat. Tonight we toasted the almond & pistachio one after dinner, complemented by a soy chai latte each. So. Good.

God, do I love food.
