CCCXXXIV: Midas Miracle

Two weeks ago, I lost my scarf. A week after that I realized that I had also lost a gold bracelet that a dear family friend had given me years ago. One that I believed had, for all intents and purposes, protected me and my travelling sisters while we were in Sicily and Greece. I was devastated and stunned at my carelessness of losing two gifts in one day (the scarf had been a gift from my mom). I kept asking the yoga studio if anything had turned up, and I remembered to say a little prayer to St. Anthony--we always turn to spirituality in times of need.

Imagine my surprise when I was locking my front door tonight and suddenly saw something gold glimmering on my house keys. The magnetic clasp that closes my bracelet had been attached to my keys ALL THIS TIME. The keys that I use at least twice a day and hold my yoga key fob for signing in to classes. WTML?! (Meant in the best way possible).

I stood there with my mouth agape, staring at the vision before me. I kept repeating "I can't believe it!" to my mom, who was equally shocked and relieved. But how the milly is the magnet so strong as to withstand two weeks of pulling my keys out of my bag?

If the front door light hadn't been on, I wouldn't have noticed. And when I think about it, it's always pretty grey when I leave home and completely dark when I return. I have so many things connected to my keys that other metallic objects would blend in...

Best pre-Christmas miracle ever!

Now all I need to find is the scarf and I will be, as they say in Cantonese, "on lok sai"--totally pleased.
