CCCXXXIII: Giosy's Favourite Things (aka The Flashback Episode)

333 marks the best possible number I could ever have blogged. It is my favourite number (3) with just as many digits. (And to fall on the 13th? So. Perfect. It would only have been better if it was March 3rd.)

You know how Oprah has her Favourite Things? Well, what better day than today to write about mine? Here they are in no particular order:
  1. Food - particularly those of the delicious variety. All others pale in comparison and are not worth tasting. Also for inclusion in this category (thought it is a beverage): soy chai lattes. I can now claim to be goddess of chai.
  2. Chiara - she has taught me responsibility and a whole new way to love. And the fact that she sleeps with me every night and is a lap cat...or that she is so well-behaved and adorable...I could not have asked for more.
  3. Yoga - I would never have thought that trying it out for 2 weeks in February would have led to a devoted and fulfilling almost year-long practice. It has helped me, body and soul.
  4. Language/wordsmithery/puns - self-explanatory.
  5. Opera - wow, why did it take me so long to remember this? When it's done right, it's fabulous; and it's one of those pure forms of entertainment that still requires actual talent (unlike the Mileys and Paris Hiltons of the world). Take one part drama, one part music, and one part passion, and you've got this concoction of auditory chocolate (or sex if that's what you prefer. Which, knowing you, you do).
  6. Writing - blogging has reintroduced homework into my life--the good kind. I always knew I preferred writing over speaking, but this little project of mine has solidified the fact while also giving me a daily challenge. If only my memory was sharper! To think of all the topics I was going to write about but forgot upon writing...oh no, what was #7 going to be again? Oh yeah...
  7. Vancouver - the New York of my SATC. Sure, we don't have the best nightlife and it's hard to meet people, but when the sun comes out, it's gorgeous. And it will always be home.
  8. Family - I may rag on my parents a lot (especially when computer questions are involved), but I never stop appreciating or loving them for who they are and who they encourage me to be(come). I hope I will one day be as selfless as them.
  9. Sleep - I don't know why I make this a luxury/rara avis when it shouldn't be so. Or why I often sacrifice it for #3--though, since I'm being honest, it is more often than not because of Facebook (not one of my favourite things even though I waste so much time on it).
  10. Friends - I saved the best for last because I am lucky to have the best. They have been patient with me whether regarding my stubbornness (how many days did I not wear my glasses and how many years did I not give in to getting contact lenses for stupid reasons?), timidity, (social) paranoia, indecisiveness, self-imposed hermitdom, etc. They lend me their ears, shoulders, ciambelle, calves; most of them lend me their eyes daily (not literally but by reading this blog!) and in turn their continual support. Even though we don't talk to or see each other often, please never forget how much I value your friendship. You will make it all the more difficult for me to leave!
That just took me about 2 hours including interruptions. Sorry, #9! Looks like you lose again.
