CCCXXXI: Eybdoog, Olim

A wise man once said "parting is such sweet sorrow". Actually, that's only half-right, since Juliet is the character who expresses Shakespeare's famous words. I like keeping you on your toes.

Though they have primarily romantic connotations, I couldn't find any words more fitting to describe the departure of my dear friend Olim to the sandy and sunny shores of Brazil for a month and then Santa Monica for work. She had a small farewell dinner tonight and I think it had just started sinking in for all of us. I don't know when I'll get a chance to see her again and that saddens me, but at the same time, she is moving on to live her dream and I could not be any happier for her. Except if she were to also adopt a kitten...and not be allergic to cats.

As we hugged for the umpteenth time after having discovered our mutual love for nuzzling (we can credit my sandwich for rendering me unhuggable during dinner), I had a brief flashback of our friendship and how much I was going to miss our lunches and soy chai latte chats, as well as our Miga-smeyes, double entendres, and obscure references to one of us that are mainstream to the other (me: NPC vs. Olim: cartouche).

Olim, I'll miss our laughs and your dialect, but most of all I will miss YOU(s), my Damelvian co-creator. Buon viaggio e buon lavoro!
