CCLXXXVIII: Let the Right One In

Staycation day 2 in the past two weeks. And I did what I do best on such days: abandon all plans (I'm looking at you, yoga) and park myself in front of the TV. I seriously need to stop treating my vacation days at home as I would if I were sick.

Today I enjoyed my comedy trinity: The Office, The Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family--all courtesy of my PVR. Then I watched In Treatment for the first time and quite liked it. Mom and I had a Veronica Mars 8-episode marathon from season 2 and then after dinner, Dad and I watched Let the Right One In, a Swedish film about a twelve-year old bullied boy who falls in love with his new neighbour, who happens to be a vampire. It was strangely enough a cute love story amidst some not-so-awesome killing.

I don't know if I'm starting to become indifferent but I feel like I haven't been blown away by any movies lately. Because this one tonight was unique. Just not spectacular.

Maybe, like soulmates or great loves, you are only allowed a certain number of favourite movies. I'm pretty happy with my list and would be fine if nothing else was added, but the fact--nay, the hope--that something amazing will come along is what makes me pay attention to movie reviews.

What is life but a continual search for something better? To improve yourself, your circumstances, your situation.

Unless you just had a staycation. It's like taking a break from reality and your thoughts.
