CCLXXIV: Corenjoyment

I have had one of the best days ever. You would never think that I woke up at 5:30am today.

I went to 7:00am core class taught by one of my favourite yoga instructors. He is an awesomely entertaining presence and I would say he is the Ms. Frizzle of yoga in that he makes a challenging class fun. I have only talked to him once before (if you don't count hellos or goodbyes) and he already knew my name. Well, today he introduced a new move to us while stretching which he dubbed "the snake dance"--essentially making your arms look like they're doing "the worm" while bending your knees and swaying left to right and letting your head follow suit. Aka looking extremely silly/crazy/stupid.  Or as he described, "channeling your inner burning man...or Will Ferrell".

I did this without inhibition because I was not wearing my contact lenses or glasses, ergo I would not be able to see (and thus care about) other people looking at me. (WHAT?! An "ergo" and a "thus" in one sentence? I'm pulling out all the stops tonight!)

In mid-snake position, I suddenly heard my instructor exclaim with enthusiasm, "JB, now that's a snake dance!"

I smiled to myself at a) him knowing my initials, and b) his recognition of my mean snake.

By the way, as I type this I realize how dirty anything involving the word "snake" sounds. I acknowledge it and am moving on to bigger things. (That's what she said!)

I did not rush myself to the shower as I normally do but went to the infrared sauna for about 15 minutes before taking my time to shower and get ready for work. When I walked outside it was bright and sunny. Bonus points for the day!

Then I got to see Olim for lunch and introduced her to the amazing soy chai latte near my work. I normally only indulge and get one every two weeks but have had two per week lately, so it didn't taste as wonderful as usual today but was still highly appreciated since it MADE ME HYPER FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. I blame it on a combination of Olim time + caffeine + sugar (the latter two from said chai). We had many laughs and I probably spoke about pie for the longest time ever in the history of the universe. (If you don't know already, I love pie. Especially pie crust. Especially Tartine's pie and pie crust. And also cookies in general while we're at it.)

After we parted I got back to work and had random bursts of laughter that further freaked out my new coworker and was much chattier and energetic than usual.

Then I met up with Smeek in south Granville for some shopping. After some whining on my part (I was suddenly craving Indian food and had always wanted to try out this place), we went to Indian Oven and ordered the butter chicken special and a lamb dish they recommended (can't recall the name but it was the last one in their menu and it doesn't look like the last one on their online menu) with garlic naan. For drinks, Smeek had a sweet strawberry lassi and I ordered a chai at the end of our meal. The portions were larger than they looked since we had half leftover from each dish, along with half of the rice, and we thoroughly enjoyed dunking our naan into the curry. And the food was good, but after having my family friend's homemade butter chicken and basmati rice, everything else pales in comparison. Plus I am now very thirsty and can foresee some heartburn...

But oh, what a fantastic time I had just sitting and chatting with Smeek for almost three hours in the restaurant. It seemed like forever since we had the occasion to laugh, reminisce, and dream together; and that is all I can ask for to conclude such a beautiful day!
