CCLXXI: Nicky

I was having a pretty "bleh" day--you know the kind: monotonous, unfocused, uninspired--and then Nicky asked me to chat with her on MSN and it has turned this girl's frown upside-down. Fo realz, yo.

It's the story of our friendship. We met in eighth grade, I had to ask her to repeat her name for me a couple times before I got it right, and we didn't start being good friends until eleventh grade, when we'd spend hours on MSN minesweeping and chatting (to this day she is remembered as the one who deflowered me in Minesweeper). We developed our own congratulatory language, nicknamed each other a couple of times, daydreamed of one day going on a Eurotrip together, actually went to Europe together (twice!), and now are travelling sisters, blogmates, fellow yoginis, and food-lovers for life. It doesn't get any better. Except that it does.

She is responsible for introducing me to Arrested Development, ATVing, rock-climbing, blogging--not to mention the aforementioned minesweeping--things I probably would have never tried. Her thirst for adventure and general (carnivorous) hunger never cease to amaze me. She excels in everything she puts her effort into and is a perfect balance of intelligence, creativity, activity, and curiosity. All wrapped up in a bombshell!

So it is fitting that I find myself sitting here, talking to her on MSN just like we used to. It is always unplanned, starts with the intention of a quick chat, and turns into well over an hour of sharing and LOL'ing, bringing more enjoyment than I was expecting to encounter on an otherwise uneventful evening. It's the story of our friendship.
