XXXVII: RaeRae's Day in History

The story of the night, other than Alexandre Bilodeau receiving Canada's first gold medal on home soil, was my travelling sister RaeRae's front row centre spot in witnessing and helping facilitate the historic moment. When she told me she would be presenting him with a medal, it had not clued in with me that there were three volunteer flower and medal presenters, and she would be the one holding the tray with the gold medal. I assumed there was either one volunteer (her) or that she would be present amongst the festivities.

But when I saw them lined up in that specific order and saw that she was the furthest away, it finally clicked that she was the one. And she smiled her sweet smile and stood there with such poise and grace. I could not have imagined it any other way.

Congratulations, RaeRae! I hope that you never forget the magic of the moment when all eyes around the world were on you.
