Don't make me laugh, because when you do, you are now guaranteed a coughing fit.
I now have a wet cough, which I guess means I'm getting better, BUT I did not feel better when I woke up from a nap on my bus ride home with a very strong itch at the back of my throat (the kind that you have to cough loudly for repeatedly to relieve). I had to suppress my cough for 15 seconds until I decided to get off at the stop right then, five stops before my destination, so that I could freely hack away (much to my own chagrin as I was on a high-traffic street). This lasted for ten+ minutes as I walked by wedding dress shops, a smoky pub (which made it worse), and made it to the next bus stop.
Add five+ minutes before voice class and I was sure an observer would conjecture that a) I was a heavy smoker, and/or b) I had tuberculosis.
No, apparently this is just a cold.
After a very chilly uphill walk home I managed to catch the best of the male figure skaters do their free skate. I had no hope for Canada's Patrick Chan (sorry but as nice of a guy as he seems, his short program on Tuesday was nowhere near as strong as the medal contenders'), so I was looking forward to seeing Evgeni Plushenko vs. Evan Lysacek vs. Stephane Lambiel.
I was super happy with the conclusion:
Evan was a very gracious winner, Plushenko (because he is only referred to by his last name) pulled a very funny move when he went on the podium -- stepping onto the gold platform quickly and then jumping to the silver one (with a huge grin on his face) -- and Daisuke won Japan's first male figure skating medal ever.
I was also very impressed when Plushenko kissed the hand of the woman who gave him his flowers - because when do you ever see a young man kiss a lady's hand anymore? Sorry if it's old-fashioned to some women, but to me it is always a sign of chivalry, charm, and class. Unless you're a genuinely creepy guy (I imagine a pervy moustache and ulterior motives)...in which case, I would prefer you not to ruin the hand-kiss for anyone, especially me, its proponent.

oh no! i used to always get coughs like that and it is embarassing to cough so much in public (especially at work!) i guess going to a concert on saturday night isn't such a great idea then.
ReplyDeletei love evan lysacek! he's so good. i thought he looked like a spider because he was dressed in all black and because of his long limbs
