XXIV: Spinning into Control

Last night was not so great and I couldn't push it out of my head until tonight's yoga class. Mylo and I went to YRide Sprint. It was my first spinning class ever (I didn't even know what "spinning" was until a couple of years ago) and it was also the toughest yoga class I've taken to date. My thighs were burning from exhaustion about ten minutes into class and I thought that the worst was over.  Then I heard the instructor say, "Now that we're all warmed up..." and I thought, OH MAN, warmed up?! The real stuff hasn't started yet? Save me Jebus

Alas, I was not to be saved, but I was easily the most out of shape person amongst the group of twenty women. I didn't know that there would be different increments of tension and that we'd have to incorporate sitting vs. standing while pedalling! I can't even ride a bike!

So I had to resort to sitting while others stood and "biked uphill". And sitting wasn't even that much of a relief. I don't know how people can ride bikes for more than a few minutes. The best part of the class was when we took out our yoga mats and did some relaxing stretches; and I must say, without the strenuous nature of the spinning, I would not have enjoyed the welcome relief of the cobra.

  2. YESSS!!! SPINNING!!! this is the class I wanted to try the most. However, I'm a little confused. I thought they were going to incorporate yoga into the spinning bit...not separate the two

  3. My friend Ari goes to spin class a lot! I think she really enjoys it. I don't know how I would feel about that...I think my thighs would start aching after 2 seconds!
