CCCVIII: Deadlines

In the bustle of this evening's search through gigabytes of photos, where 1.5 hours of skimming through thumbnails amounted to less than three years of digital keepsakes, I almost forgot about blogging.

Yes, my ma's 60th birthday is on Saturday. Yes, I only have two nights to pull off some sort of slideshow. No, it looks unlikely that this project will be viewed by anyone at her actual birthday dinner since I didn't plan this far enough in advance. Maybe, if all goes much better than I dare dream, I will have it ready to view on my laptop when she wakes up on her birthday. Do you think that will fly?

Guys, I am so very tired already. I haven't gotten more than 6 hours of sleep in the past x days and only have myself to blame. Around 1:00am this morning I was on the Apple website watching tutorials on how to use Keynote. Let me just say that it is so much cooler than PowerPoint. The "perspective" transition alone is worth a switch to a Mac.

And I'm thinking...if I could pull off papers in university the night before/wee hours of the morning of the deadline, this should be possible.

But I'm also thinking how I could have easily crashed the car tonight because I was so tired that I might have had a few microsleeps while driving. That is utterly reckless of me.

So it looks like it's my mother's happiness vs. my life. And in Chinese culture, the mother always wins. Because even if she doesn't, you lose.
