Lucky Monday

It feels like Wednesday already since today was such a long day. I was up by 5:20am and got home at 10:00pm. This is how it went down...

Yoga: it's day one of YYoga's annual 15% off sale, so I bought my 12-month pass for next year which now also comes with a $50 in-store credit. I have been needing a new mat for awhile so it was perfect timing! I invested it in a much higher quality Manduka PROlite mat (in purple) which comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Upon opening my locker, I found a small and shiny red card. I didn't think anything of it at first but then decided to read it. It was one of their hidden complimentary class cards that they had planted around the studio to promote their sale. What a pleasant surprise! I had been meaning to take Boy to core class one day and this was exactly what I needed for him since it also included mat and towel rental.

Core class with my favourite instructor was fun and effective as usual, and I left the studio feeling like I had already accomplished (and spent) a lot so early in the morning.

Work: things are at their busiest since our big conference is coming up this Thursday and Friday. I'll leave it at that.

School: it was my first Writing and Editing for the Web class tonight from 6:30-9:30pm...and I didn't fall asleep at all! Perhaps this was because the teacher is cool and knowledgeable, or maybe it's because our class was in an iMac-filled computer lab. I learned about Web 2.0 and re-established my love of blogging (privately, of course -- I'm excited because our last class will be led by a blogger).

Some cool sites I learned about via The Conversation Prism include:
  • Tripit - for travel itineraries (Nicky, this means you!)
  • Flipboard - "your social magazine"
  • paper.li - to start your own online newspaper
The latter two sites are characterized under "social curation" which sounds more formal and interesting than I guess it really is, though I must admit that I have always been drawn to the word "curator" as I often envisioned myself in a museum amongst classical Greek and Roman sculpture and artefacts. I wonder what I need to do to get "social curator" on my business card.

Uau (=an Italian "wow").

I just realized that if that ever were my title, it would perfectly combine my double major of psychology and classical studies.

Bus: I used my bus ride home to devote some time to Instagram. I dug up another Berlin photo (one that I am particularly proud of) and shared it with the Instaverse.

Did I mention that I only had four hours of sleep today?
