Halloween at the Waldorf

Ever since New Year's Eve, I have been a huge fan of the Waldorf for special events. Its blend of music and low-drama crowd, along with its proximity to yours truly, makes it my venue of choice for dancing. When I heard that they were throwing a Halloween party, I quickly texted all my friends to ask who wanted to go with me. I wanted to take advantage of their cheap early bird tickets while I could.

To my dismay, I realized that no one in my life is enthusiastic about Halloween. And the one who is (Boy) does not dance or like DJs.

So I was incredibly grateful when Numz said she was in. I ended up getting the last two early bird tickets. Score!

Now with backstory aside, I must say how glad I was to have had a girls' night with Numz amidst such an amusing crowd. Most people put a lot of effort into their costumes. I recycled my red pregrad dress from grade 11 that I had already used for a Halloween party a few years ago as Vesper Lynd. Numz went in her work clothes. We were two peas in a pod for underwhelming attire.

We started the night in the Tiki Bar for 90s music (aka the "OMG I love this song!" room), where we saw a cute Waldo, two Beetlejuices (who at one point met each other and had a showdown), some very tall men, Transformers, and an asian Top Gun who danced with me. As we left the room, I got stepped on (by whom I will never know) in the centre of my foot. It hurt a lot and I had to sit down for a few minutes since it was direct contact between a stranger's heel and my bare top foot.

After healing (or heeling, I should say), we danced in Nuba Café which was the retro room, where the shot below was taken. I'm the one whose face is peeking over the vested guy's shoulder. And I was having fun!

Another asian Top Gun danced with me (WTML was with that coincidence?), Numz and I got approached by a few members of a bachelor party to help with tasks (everything was too inappropriate for me to do, plus Numz and I are classy women!), and we spotted a Tobias Funke in never-nude attire.

Other features of the Waldorf were a strange Mexican Day of the Dead-themed room (which we promptly left each time we entered) and a red-light hallway on the third floor with scantily clad, burlesque-dancing women.

Although the young coconuts were sold out, I would call it a very fun evening, and I decided to call it quits around 1:30am. There was a lot on my mind today and I needed some rest.

Thank you, Numz!!!
