CCXXXIV: Potpourri

If you're wondering why I blogged so late last night/early this morning, it's because I fell asleep on the couch after starting The Dark Knight with my parents and was discovered and awoken by my dad around 3:00am. I was in a very tightly-packed fetal position because of the cold and Chiara was curled up next to my toes. By the time I showered and thought up what to blog about it was around 4:00am. So no, I wasn't out dancing or anything...though I hope that one of these nights, my girlfriends and I will hit up Library Square. (Please?)

Today and tomorrow are devoted to spending quality family time. Though I live at home with my parents, I really only see them at dinner time every night as we each do our own thing. Unless we're all watching a movie, in which case I am awake for all of it and they each take turns dozing off at some point or another. Speaking of movies, we finished The Dark Knight this evening (it was my second time watching it) and they did not like it at all! They said it was too complicated. Whereas I was entertained both times--yes, Heath Ledger's performance was haunting in every sense of the word, and Christian Bale's Batman voice is  borderline-comical at times--but then again, I loved what are frequently classified as the worst Batman movies: Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. What can I say? I have always loved colourful villains.

We spent the day in Richmond enjoying Dim Sum and acquiring fresh fish in Steveston. My mom was so excited to get fresh sockeye salmon at a reasonable price, but what surprised me even more was how jubilant she felt at finding octopus! I cannot handle seafood or certain meats and was forced to take one for the team and carry around the bag of octopus and salmon. The salmon's tail was sticking out from inside the bag and I had to be careful not to let it touch myself or anyone in the crowd around me. Then the smell. Blargh! It invades my home still...

  1. Haha oh I thought your late blog post was due to being out dancing at Library Square! This one is so late too. Did you go to Shanghai River?
