I fell asleep on my bus ride home today and awoke two seconds before the bus braked for my stop. Luckily someone was getting off there too. How are things like this possible? It's not such a big deal. My next stop would have only been a block farther. But sometimes--okay, oftentimes--the human brain never ceases to amaze me. It cannot be pure coincidence that in all my years of bus rides, and all the times I've fallen asleep, that I have only missed my bus stop twice (and one of those times was because I had gotten up just in time but the door wouldn't open for me. Argh I hate it when the door doesn't respond to my desperate pushes!).
My other concern on my almost daily bus-naps is that I snore and/or look like a monster. I don't think I am a snorer, but what if my jaw relaxes while I'm sleeping and my mouth is agape? And then audible breathing occurs? And most likely a grotesque double-chin because of the way my head is propped? Best to stop wondering and to forget these questions altogether, or else I would have very long bus rides filled with paranoia. Then the drowsiness would make me cranky. Kind of like right now.
haha sometimes i fall asleep in the staff room during my break, and i wake up with my mouth wide open...
