Biblioteca delle Oblate

The highlight of my day? Getting lost in the Biblioteca delle Oblate. This is a huge library located steps from the Duomo, my school, and about a 10-minute walk from my apartment. It's easy to get lost because there are three floors and you find yourself stumbling on courtyard upon courtyard (and bagni upon bagni--which is a luxury rarely seen in Italy).

My aims were to first get a library card (success!) and then borrow Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Unfortunately only the 4th and 6th books were in stock so the very friendly librarian in the children's section of the library (equipped with lots of reading space and cloud-like lights) helped me reserve the first two HP books...in Italian of course.

In case you're wondering (since this is gripping news and all), it looks like HP 1 will take about a month but HP 2 should be returned any day now. I would rather have read them in sequence but it's better to practice reading something rather than nothing. And I didn't want to spend €16,50 on a hardcover book that I'd have to lug home, when that is apparently the price of mascara here. Why the milly leaf are things so expensive in Italy?!

Today's word of the day is biblioteca, or "library", not to be confused with libreria (bookstore). Posh and I plan to study at this library to pick up Italian male university students...but don't tell anyone.
