Musette Caffè

With each day that passes, I am one day closer to some long-overdue and much-needed vacation time. This week will be very busy--there are so many things that need to get done, and prioritizing and finding the time will prove to be a challenge. Blargh.

So I was pleasantly surprised to have a visitor at work today--none other than Boy! He came by on his bike Pal and we went for a short break at Musette Caffè. This is another one of Prancine's fabulous recommendations (yesterday's adventure was thanks to her as well) and even though she's been a loyal customer for over a year, who has strolled into work many a time with one of their to-go cups, I only visited it for the first time last week--and it's a block from my work! To be fair, I am not a coffee drinker and don't make cafés part of my daily (or weekly) routine.

Musette Caffè is a bicycle-friendly café that is accessed from an alley near Burrard and Drake, beside a Toyota dealership. Its clientele consists mostly of cyclists and hipsters, but all are welcome. Their staff are very friendly and I like their wooden tables and colourful cycling memorabilia. Most of all, I love their pumpkin banana loaf (seasonal)! It's an amazingly moist loaf with the right amount of spice and flavour. They didn't have it today so I got their banana loaf instead, which was still delicious. Boy got a liege waffle that he identified as coming from Pâtisserie Lebeau (one of our favourite breakfast places) and we each had a kind of Earl Grey tea.

For coffee drinkers, Musette serves 49th Parallel stuff, which Vancouverites say is our best coffee but I disagree if I'm basing it off of my last experience with their acidic espresso (however, I am biased toward what I had in Italy). But if Prancine loves their lattes, I trust that they're great.

After saying goodbye to Boy, I got back to work and ended my day with a two-hour meeting. I've been noticing lately that I'm not as anxious about meetings as I used to be, and that I am more able to be myself instead of a mute and awkward girl with no personality. I guess it's gotten to the point where meeting logistics is second nature to me now.

17 more days!
