I have just done a blogging blitz. It feels so good to have finally caught up. But it's 3:04am now and I know my writing has been pretty incoherent for the past hour, and I found myself making very clumsy mistakes.
Nonetheless, I wanted to write about the past two days before I forget, and even though they weren't as eventful as other days have been, their simple sweetness is a taste I want to linger in my mind for a bit longer.
Boy was discharged from the hospital on Thursday and though not back to normal, he has improved a lot from two weeks ago. It was nice to spend some quality time together on Friday night watching Seinfeld, cooking and eating pasta, and being hugged. Though I had missed him, I had not realized how much until then.
We watched No Country for Old Men, which I enjoyed for its unpredictability and quality as a film, but found too dark to be in my shortlist of favourites. I am realizing more and more how I don't like to watch things with violence or blood, especially when there's so much of one or the other. This was by far not the most violent or bloodiest movie I have seen, but Javier Bardem's character's frequency of killing and emotional detachment from it all left me feeling a bit scared, since I knew people like that really existed. I'm just glad I don't know any of them.
I was so sleepy that I ended up falling asleep on the couch until 4:00am, which is a common occurrence for me on Friday nights.
Then in the morning, Boy made us delicious vegan banana pancakes which I paired with a soy chai latte. Yum.
Pretty soon after that, I met with Ma for her belated birthday manicure/pedicure. I ended up getting three different OPI colours, all dark and gorgeous (I can't stop admiring my nails!), and after a couple of hours there I introduced her to her first donair. She approved!
She had a reunion to go to and I met up with Boy again for a walk and some more Seinfeld before heading home (via Pizza Hut) for a daddy-daughter pizza and movie date. We shared a medium vegetarian pizza (I love their pan crust!), drank lemon cokes, and then watched Castle in the Sky (dubbed). I fell asleep for the last twenty minutes of it.
Tomorrow (technically today) I will get my hair cut and coloured and then spend the afternoon with Smeek! What a wonderful weekend!
