Ma's Sakana Birthday

Happy Birthday to Ma!

Our family celebrated Ma's birthday today with cards, flowers, and dinner. I took my parents to Oli's favourite restaurant, Bistro Sakana, and was armed with her list of recommendations. It was my third time there, first time without Oli, and my parents' first time there ever. I was excited to introduce them to a new place and share another culinary treasure that Oli had imparted upon me.

And, as with all of her recommendations, it did not disappoint. Ma and Giagi loved everything. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. This is by no means the entire list of what is good at the restaurant, but trust me, these are some of the best.

Tuna and salmon isobeyage

Teppan roll (scallops, tomato, pesto, mozzarella, with a balsamic vinegar drizzle)

Prosciutto roll (with mango and goat cheese)

Black sesame-encrusted tuna (the corally bits are beets!)

Duck à l'orange japonais (front), sockeye jalopeño aburi
(middle), and teppan roll (top)

Tuna avocado crèpe

Chestnut panna cotta

Ma's bouquet!
