XVI: Day One of Operation Yoga

I did the impossible, guys. I woke up at 5:00 am in order to take a 7:00 am yoga class in Downtown. And dare I say it was worth it?

The only thing that pissed me off was that while I was walking down my hill, I saw my bus pass by. And the next one didn't come until 15-20 minutes later, meaning that I was a few minutes early for the class instead of the recommended 15 minutes. And it wasn't just one bus, there were two, which meant that one of them was behind schedule. And I was on the almost-empty second bus that would not, to my furious dismay, overtake the first one--which meant that we stopped at every stop, even if no one was getting off our bus. Grrr. I had to run to the studio, quickly register, sign a waiver without reading it (I know I should have read it but I didn't want to be late!), tour the facilities, pick up slack, and put all my stuff in the locker with just a few seconds to spare.

As I mentioned a few days ago, I am taking random classes at YYoga to take advantage of their $30 two-week trial offer. This seems like an amazing deal, given that they have classes all day (not that I would take them all), very clean and spacious studios (even a shoe room!), and, to my knowledge, most yoga classes would cost between $20-30 each. I won't be able to afford that.

The class I took was called "Flow" and it consisted of stretching and relaxation. It was a wonderful way to start my morning and I left my class feeling taller and more energized. I was even thinking of taking their "YHot" hot yoga class after work (I had gone as far as reserving a spot) but was dissuaded by my coworkers. That adventure will be for tomorrow...and I'm pretty sure I am going to faint. I have told my friend Mylo to tell my parents and cat that I love them if that happens. So tune in tomorrow to hear about my bout of unconsciousness! It should be riveting.

In other news, I finally (by chance) found the "home" and "end" keys on my MacBook. This will greatly simplify my life and save me at least 5 seconds per computer usage. Sweet.

  1. I'm so happy you enjoyed morning yoga, Giosy! I hate flow! I hate doing upward and downward dog. I much prefer hot yoga. I think you should definitely try hot yoga. The key is to pace yourself and not push yourself too much. Listen to your body. Otherwise, you might black out (which I was on the verge of, at my first class). Let me know how you like it! I really wanted to try the spinning class too!

  3. hold down the "command" key and then type the left or right arrow, depending on if you want home or end. you can use this in conjunction with shift to highlight from beginning to end or vice versa.
