- Friday night dinner at Vij's (the first time for both my parents--and they loved it!)
- Saturday night dinner at Sho Chiku in White Rock (French Kiss Roll!)
- Sunday night dinner at Ho Yuen Kee for pigeon and lobster
A lot of good food. So how does the title relate?
Well, first, I think the ultimate birthday gift for my mom would be a grandchild. She loves babies and unfortunately for her, I don't see myself wanting to have one for a long time. Instead, my dad and I chipped in to get her an iPad 2, which is a lot cleaner, cheaper, and compact than a baby. I named it "Jee Ma" which is Cantonese for "sesame". It just popped in my head while we were driving to the restaurant.
The main reason for the title though is that while we were in church this morning, there was a small toddler a couple of rows in front of me who kept making eye contact with everyone sitting behind him while held in his mother's arms. He had no problems holding a stare, switching his focus to another person, and then locking eyes again. I started wondering if I was anything like that as a child, and the resounding answer in my head was a loud "No!". And to make matters worse, I found myself trying to avoid his gaze. "WTML?!" indeed. Someday I hope to get to the bottom of this and find out why I have such a problem making eye contact.
