I am very surprised right now. I actually got it right last night! Which means nothing really since I am the only one keeping track.
But America, it looks like I got a taste of your voting medicine last week and learned. That and the groups really are the weakest of the acts so far.
I thought the big group number this week was much much better than last week. It was actually live for starters, it wasn't cheesy, and it was original. They did Swedish House Mafia's "Save the World" and I really had fun watching it--plus it looked like the contestants enjoyed it as well. Yay!
I fast-forwarded past Willow Smith and Jessie J's performances since they were boring (why did most of the judges give a standing ovation?) and then got right to the results. This is the glory of PVR.
When Lakoda Rayne and Trace (aka Stereo Hogzz) were named the bottom two acts, I felt very relieved. The last thing I would have wanted would be for someone undeserving to be sent home (and I also didn't want to be wrong again).
Lakoda Rayne were the first to perform to save themselves, singing a countrified Jordin Sparks' "No Air". Though it was a bit weak in the beginning and some of their harmonies near the end were off, I thought it was one of their better performances. I liked their take on the song and thought it suited them very well.
Trace was in the bottom two for a second week in a row. Poor guy, I really wish he entered this competition as a solo act instead of attaching four man-shaped anchors to him. He performed Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone" (aka the Free Willy song). I have a feeling the other four guys were pre-taped once again. And what really bugged me was that they were all singing the same notes anyway--I tried listening hard and did not hear any harmonies whatsoever!
The judges each chose which of the two groups would be sent home. L.A. Reid and Nicole voted for Stereo Hogzz, Paula was too torn to vote but in the end decided on Lakoda Rayne just to give Stereo Hogzz a chance, and Simon voted for Stereo Hogzz. When they were announced as the group to leave this week, one of four no-names (a shorter guy with a white jacket) kept flashing his blingy stereo-shaped necklace and making funny faces to the camera. He continued doing this after their video montage was shown. Dude, you were just eliminated and this is how you're acting? WTML?!
I'm very happy with America and the judges' decision and am looking forward to not having to write about the Stereo Hogzz again.
PS. In case you're wondering, we have running water in the house again! You really don't know what you've got 'till it's gone!
