Boy and I had a fuller Saturday than usual today.
We made waffles for breakfast (vs. our usual pancakes), which we enjoyed while watching the first episode of the Great Canadian Baking Show. The batch of waffles we made with shredded apple mixed into the batter was particularly delicious.
We practiced a bit for our upcoming gig (Smeek's wedding procession!!!).
We went to the Farmers Market at Nat Bailey Stadium, where I bought overpriced but delicious date almond milk. We also foraged for dinner ingredients as we haven't cooked together in probably a year (!). Due to it being leek and potato season, we decided to follow Once Upon a Chef's potato leek soup recipe.
Since the car wouldn't start in the parking lot (such has been the norm for the past 1.5 months or so, despite taking Argentina for service and a pointless repair), we left our groceries in the car and walked to Main Street, where I unexpectedly found a dress from the 1950s that fit me perfectly, in a store I have never noticed before, which we only entered because Boy was curious.
We also visited and browsed several other shops between 33rd and wherever Eugene Choo is, with notable stops at Red Cat Records (where we ogled their record player and pristine records; Boy bought two records--one African and one Greek), Chickpea (we were hungry; we won't be back), and a couple of grocery stores we had overlooked in the past. Luckily Argentina started and we were able to go home and do another quick errand without being stranded.
By the time we got home and started cooking, it was around 8:30pm. We listened to the new records while preparing our soup, and sat down to drink it around 10pm. Then we watched Lady Bird, and here I am typing at 1:37am next to a snoozing Boy. I guess this beats phone poking, but probably not reading or sleep--things I always aim to catch up on tomorrow.
