It's my fourth post tonight. The other three are retroactively dated to last week. I'm patting myself on the back for my productivity as I finally woke up in time for Core class today--which means I was up at 5:00am and got to my yoga studio by 6:30am with time to spare for the infrared sauna beforehand!
My instructor was surprised to see me and boy did I miss his classes! I also realized that I have to build up my strength and endurance all over again. I'm not so excited about the process but I am anticipating the good results down the road...a very long road.
My yoga studio is having their annual pass sale this week which comprises of a 15% discount. It doesn't sound like much but it can actually translate to a savings of around $200, depending on which pass you get. I had been planning on getting my new pass this week and since I was a bit early for work, I decided to pay for it right after my class. When I got the bill I was very surprised to see how much more expensive it was than last year, but since I knew they raised their fees I accepted the price and went to work.
At work I looked up the membership prices and realized that the annual pass I got (with mat and towel service) was $400 more than without. WTML?! When did they exponentially raise their rental fees? I suddenly felt very cheated and was mad at myself for not having looked up the prices sooner. In my defence, I think there should have been a fee schedule somewhere on the contract I signed...which had also explained their cancellation policy (that there are no refunds or cancellations!).
I pretty much whined about this to my colleagues for much of the afternoon (I really need to learn to keep my worrying to myself), even more so when I was told over the phone that they would not offer me a refund. So while doing my work for the rest of the day, I was trying to think of my reasoning for being granted an exception for when I was to speak with the manager.
Luckily (?) for me, when I got to the studio after work and explained my dilemma, I was given the email address of the supervisor. By now you should know that I always prefer typing over speaking since I can mull over my word selection and sound more intelligent than I ever would in person, so I am for now taking this as a blessing in disguise. I wrote my email tonight and am hoping that I can get some of my money back!
The rest of the evening went by very well. Giagi and I had a father/daughter pizza and movie night like we used to when I was younger. Even though we're Italian, we both appreciate Pizza Hut's pan pizza every now and then, so I ordered takeout and swung by Safeway to get a 1L bottle of Coca Cola and a lemon to complement our meal.
Surprisingly, my favourite pizza at Pizza Hut is Veggie Lovers. I know.
After three slices of pizza each and a chance to watch Jeopardy! while washing the dishes, I made us some soy chai lattes and we watched Shutter Island, which I had PVR'd months ago. I was worried that it would scare the bejesus out of me but luckily there were only a few mildly scary parts. I liked that it made me doubt what I had believed to be reality in the movie (take that, Inception). It had a Sixth-Sensian twist and Leonardo DiCaprio is really an incredible actor.
And anyway, when I wanted to avoid an unpleasant scene, all I had to do was look at Chiara sleeping on my lap...
[Update: I'm getting my refund!!!!]
