Half-Full

Emotions are running high and energy levels slightly low, but I must say how much I'm enjoying our annual conference this year despite its few slight hiccups today. I've been running around trying to be useful (sometimes in front of a room of >350 people--and I run like a madwoman), helping out with AV, taking pictures, and Gollum-ly eating food in-between; but even though those parts took up a large part of my day, the best have been the moments in which I have seen familiar faces, struck up a short but sweet conversation, and heard from them how much they were enjoying themselves. Today I got to meet (or re-meet) people whom I've only spoken to through emails or whom I usually see once a year. At one point one of the delegates came up to me and very generously thanked me for all the work I have done in the conferences every year, and after I explained that it was really a team effort, I thanked him all the same, all the while feeling a bit like a celebrity.

But here's a brief rundown of my day today for those who are interested:
  • 5:30AM wakeup call
  • 6:30AM setup for conference
  • 8:00AM-4:00PM taking care of sessions (aka when a lot of the running takes place)
  • 5:30-7:00PM wine & cheese event
  • 10:30PM back to the hotel room
Tomorrow is a 5:00AM wakeup call, so I should have stopped blogging half an hour ago.
