Last night, I had a furniture-anxiety-induced nightmare.
I dreamt that they were delivering it to my hotel room (?!) past midnight, and because my iPhone is set to Do Not Disturb from midnight to 8:00am (a true fact!), I fell asleep and did not get any of their texts. So when I woke up and panicked, I decided that the best thing to do was to pay double the delivery price to make up for it, and reschedule. When the furniture came, I was very disappointed. Things were strange sizes and colours (I remember a red/orange fabric covering part of a storage cabinet). And my living room was even bigger and sunnier than it really is, with bright yellow walls and warm hardwood floors.
I was counting down to noon for furniture delivery, but when I got to work I received a FB message saying that they'd deliver after work instead. Which was actually better for me since it meant I wouldn't have to go back and forth, but it also meant that I'd have to wait even longer than I had originally thought.
Then, as I left work, I messaged them again and soon found out that my furniture wasn't even finished yet--which is fine, since I'd rather everything be perfect--but I had believed that everything would be ready today. So now I have adjusted my expectations for sometime this week and not tomorrow morning as they estimate.
It's looking pretty good though. I got a preview of my TV stand and desk (the only items that I had yet to see photos of) and I was pleasantly surprised. And because I saw them, I could ask for them to paint the handles a lighter colour than their original dark brown/black.
Alas, no grand unveiling today. Maybe in a few days from now? I enjoyed a quiet evening to myself of hot yoga, smoothie-making (I added half an avocado for fun and I think it's a new staple ingredient!), and watching Breaking Bad while the clay mask dries on my face. Living alone is so...fulfilling!
