New Year's Eve 2011

I started my last day of the year off with some much-needed hot yoga and then visited a very dear friend in Abbotsford Regional Hospital. She was in much better condition than a few weeks ago (when the prognosis was pretty severe) and seemed to be back to her old self emotionally. It was a holiday miracle that I hope continues on.

In the evening, my parents and I went to a family friend's for a New Year's Eve takeout dinner consisting of various Malaysian delights. I also drank my first Nespresso-created beverage and quickly understood the hype of those machines. I learned a few new fist-pump hand motions before getting the heads up to meet my friends for our NYE celebration at The Waldorf. It was the most fun I've ever had dancing thanks to the awesome music, good company, and an unpretentious atmosphere. There were a few different rooms each playing a specific genre. One had a Destiny's Child/BeyoncĂ© streak, one had retro rock tunes, and another one had live electronic pop starting at 1:30am. I loved them all! They also served some drinks in young coconuts (I had one without alcohol to quench my thirst and it was the perfect solution!), had forbidden sections of the hotel where you were required to wear a mask to enter (provided in each attendee's gift bag), and ample parking. I think I found my scene. And it matches my glahsses.

I danced so hard that my sensitive feet fell victim to my shoes. But it was worth it. Especially since Nicky and I were photographed doing our crazy moves without having to ask!
