Ashtanga Surprise

My yoga studio has changed their Tuesday and Thursday morning schedule, switching my typical Core class for Ashtanga, the basis of Power Yoga. I was excited to try something new, but even more wonderful was being reunited with a yoga instructor who inspired this post.

The last time I saw him was the day after I came back from Italy (early September), but before that it had been over a year ago from today; plus that last class was full and I remember not getting a chance to speak with him at all (not that I say more than "hi" to my instructors anyway).

Imagine my surprise when he walked in, saw me, and said my name in the form of a question, continuing with "I'm terrible at names but for some reason I remember yours". This was someone who, when I introduced myself during my first class with him a couple of years ago, remarked that I seemed familiar--to which I replied that we must have met in a past life.

Sometimes you feel like you've met a kindred spirit even though you've barely shared any time together. I am lucky that I have found at least two through yoga.

PS. I feel like it's been a long time since I've done so many chaturanga dandasanas or vinyasas. My arms are going to feel this tomorrow. Welcome back, biceps!
