Il Fundeghè

I have no idea what it means, nor do my two cousins, but I was glad they took me out to this small pub in Cabiate (a town in the province of Como), even though I am not a huge fan of beer. When we entered, the first thing I noticed was that there were no other girls except one that was hidden in a table with a group of rowdy boys, probably aged 16-18. Actually, I didn't see her until hours later. It was my cousin who pointed her out at the time. Needless to say, it was a gender shock. I don't think I will ever outgrow my all-girls high school or office norm.

Flipping through the menu, I saw pages upon pages of beer varieties (I later found out they have over 250!). I settled on a hefeweizen that was on the second page after having scanned through let's say the whole instruction manual to drunkenness (in length, not subject matter, though I guess an actual manual to getting drunk would be very short and simple). Unfortunately they were all out of the hefeweizen so they substituted it for a 0.5L of something similar, whose name I forgot to write down (Fraser it all!).

I was really happy to get the chance to hang out with my cousins and get to know them better, especially now that I am more able to hold a conversation with them than before. I've always wanted a closer relationship with my relatives but there has always been a language-barrier of sorts. Well, get ready, relatives, because that wall's going to be TORN DOWN.

Or, umm, will it be okay with you if I stopped by one day? Are you sure I won't be a bother?

I'm glad that my cousins were so easy-going and fun. I just wish I could have heard them better. Note to self: pubs do not make good meeting places. Another note to self: it takes you a very long time to finish beer. Luckily I was told to drink con calma. Not that I needed to be told that anyway.

Today's expression of the day is con calma, meaning "calmly" or taking your time to do something.
